    Job Description

Company: Air Force HVAC, Inc. - Deerfield Beach, FL Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience, plus a spiff on every bid you win Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, US Eastern Time business hours About the role You'll price commercial mechanical work for Air Force HVAC - South Florida first, plus the other US markets we work in (Texas, Louisiana, and new territories as we grow). That means the same scope gets priced differently for Miami humidity than for West Texas heat, and you'll need to learn each market's code and permitting rules fast. We want someone who understands the engineering behind the equipment, not just the price list: an HVAC design or engineering background is a big plus. What you'll quote | Chillers and chilled-water systems, air handlers, hydronic piping and pumps | VRF / VRV systems | Rooftop units (RTUs), new and replacement | Split systems, mini splits, and ductless | Ductwork, insulation, exhaust and makeup air, controls, and the mechanical side of tenant improvements and retrofits What you'll do | Take off and price full mechanical scopes from plans, specs (Div 23), schedules, and site photos | Build clean estimates in Excel and/or estimating software (Trimble AutoBid, FastDUCT/FastPIPE, QuoteSoft, or similar) | Get equipment pricing from manufacturer reps and distributors; get and level subcontractor quotes | Write clear proposals: scope, inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and alternates; fill out GC bid forms and schedules of values | Value-engineer when it helps us win - VRF vs. split, replace vs. retrofit, equipment swaps | Run load calcs and equipment selections when the drawings are thin or the job is design-build | Apply the right code for each market: Florida Building Code (Mechanical and Energy), IMC/IECC adoptions in Texas and Louisiana, DOE efficiency minimums, A2L refrigerant rules, local permitting | Keep the bid log current, hit every bid date, and hand won jobs to ops with a buyout list and budget | Weekly report: bids out, hit rate, margin Who you are | 3+ years estimating commercial mechanical / HVAC work; a mechanical engineering degree or HVAC design experience strongly preferred | Hands-on knowledge of chillers, AHUs, VRF, RTUs, splits, ductwork, and piping - you know what it takes to install, not just what it costs | Read mechanical drawings, specs, equipment schedules, and sequences of operation without help | Comfortable with US units, US codes, and US pricing, or able to get there quickly | Fluent written and spoken English - clear enough to talk a GC through your bid on the phone | Strong in Excel; Bluebeam or similar for takeoff; estimating and load-calc software a plus | Reliable internet, quiet workspace, US Eastern hours Tools Excel, Bluebeam, Google Workspace, estimating software (we'll set you up), Housecall Pro for handoff Why join Competitive pay plus a spiff on every bid you win. Steady bid volume across multiple markets with a growing company - your estimates go straight to the owner and the ops team, not into a queue. About us Air Force HVAC has proudly served South Florida for over 10 years, delivering trusted air conditioning and HVAC solutions across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. Our slogan says it all: "Your Home, Our Mission." We're committed to exceeding expectations with reliable service, quality work, and a team that truly cares. To apply Send your resume, one example of a commercial HVAC estimate you built (redacted is fine), and a short note on the biggest project you've priced and what equipment it had. English only.
