I'm training as a freight dispatcher, finished a structured program covering the full dispatch workflow: load board evaluation on DAT and Trulos, rate negotiation, carrier documentation (rate cons, BOLs, PODs, MC/COI/W-9), and problem-resolution for things like TONU, detention, and exceptions. Before this I worked as a service crew at a fast-food restaurant, taking orders, running food, coordinating the floor during rushes, zero recorded errors on transactions the whole time. It's a strange thing to bring up in a dispatch context, but the actual skill transfers more than you'd think: staying accurate when three things are happening at once and nobody's waiting around for you to catch up. I studied IT major in Business Analytics, and it shows up in how I approach dispatching, I map the process out first, run the numbers instead of trusting a gut call, and write down my reasoning so I can check it later instead of just hoping I got it right. I ended up building my own extended training manual and a simulated dispatch portfolio , load evaluation with real effective RPM math, a dispatch board with a documented delay run through the full driver-to-broker-to-customer chain. On the freight side specifically, that means I can evaluate a load on DAT or Trulos by weighing RPM against deadhead and where it actually leaves the truck, not just chasing the headline rate. It means I know how to anchor a rate negotiation on a real number, counter with market logic, and follow up instead of treating a broker's "no" as final. And it means I understand the documentation that keeps a load legitimate and a carrier paid, rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs, MC/COI/W-9, the basics of factoring. The rest comes from everywhere else I've worked. A zero-error track record in fast-paced customer service work. Some real workflow automation experience too like Zapier, M[hidden], AI-based classification and routing, which sounds unrelated until you notice it's the same discipline underneath: build the process, test it, don't let anything slip through. No paid dispatch experience yet. I'd rather tell you that straight than dress it up, what I do have is real training, tested decision-making, and a track record of not letting things slip when a lot's happening at once.
